About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Karyn Franz, and I am the proud founder of Crossroads Animal Aid. This organization was born from my daughter, Lyla Franz’s, idea. Each year, we travel to Aruba to provide essential spay and neuter services and support the incredible, yet often overwhelmed, foundations already doing life saving work on the island.
I also want to take a moment to introduce two incredible women who make this mission possible: Annie and Allison, our dedicated board members. These two powerhouses bring not only their expertise but also a collaborative and compassionate spirit to everything we do. Whether we’re tackling tough decisions or navigating challenges, they consistently offer fresh perspectives, unwavering support, and a true commitment to the animals we serve all while doing their independent rescue work!
Annie Cooper and Allison Lindsey are never ones to shy away from the hard cases. Their passion, courage, and dedication inspire me daily, and I am endlessly grateful for the work they do, both with Crossroads and on their own.
To all of you who have joined us on this journey, thank you for being here. Together, we’re making a real difference, one life at a time.

Our Story
In August 2023, our family moved back to the United States after living in Aruba. While we were excited to be closer to family, leaving Aruba was incredibly difficult. The rescue community there had become a meaningful part of our lives, and stepping away from that work left a noticeable void.
After moving back to the United States, I returned to Aruba for my first spay and neuter mission trip, which became the first Operation Cunucu Care. Being back in the rescue world, helping, supporting, and giving back, made it clear what had been missing. When we first moved back to the U.S., my daughters shared the idea that we could continue returning to Aruba to help animals through mission trips. That idea became the foundation for everything that followed.
Since then, we have completed two Operation Cunucu Care mission trips to Aruba, and the impact has been incredible.
With the encouragement of my husband and a desire to continue this work long-term, I decided to create a nonprofit to provide structure, transparency, and accountability. Crossroads Animal Aid is now a registered 501(c)(3), making all donations trackable and tax-deductible.
Crossroads Animal Aid focuses on organizing volunteer teams for spay and neuter efforts, donating time and labor to support animal foundations, and providing food, supplies, and flea and tick prevention for shelters and street feeders.
Each year, we do as much as possible with the resources we have. Any remaining funds after a mission trip go directly toward helping animals in need, both in Aruba and in the United States.
The name Crossroads Animal Aid came to me in a dream about my mom, who encouraged me to move forward with this nonprofit. It felt right, and I trusted it.
Our annual mission trips to Aruba continue as Operation Cunucu Care, and this is just the beginning. We hope to grow this work, support more foundations, and help animals wherever help is needed.
